Artist Bio and Statement
Huey-Min Chuang is a self-taught artist born in Taiwan, lived in Argentina, educated in Germany, Spain, and the U.S.A. She began to draw and paint at 48 years old at the height of the pandemic. She currently works and resides in Brooklyn, NY.
Her artwork focuses on the theme of resilience. She seeks new ways of "seeing" by leveraging her intuition and sensation to convey psychological landscapes and emotional responses through forms, lines, cultural interpretations, and colors. They welcome her with alternative creative processes, imagination, and hues that bring forth a narrative of hope and infinite possibilities.
Her works have been seen at many venues, including on Governors' Island TAAC House, QCC Museum, the Marin Contemporary Art Museum, Long Island City Cultural Labs, Watercolor Society of Rhode Island, Trolley Barn Gallery, 6th Louisiana Biennial Show, SAMA Altoona, Puffin Cultural Forum, Long Island City Artists, Imago Foundation for the Arts, Drawing Rooms, BAM Fisher, and artsy.net. She is also an Artist in Action at the Smithsonian Affiliate, Annemarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center at Solomons Island, Maryland and has a studio residency on Governor's Island, NY. Huey-Min is a recipient of artistic honors and several international young leader awards. She has been selected by White Columns in NYC to be a part of its curated Artist Registry and held a solo show opening at the Voelker Orth Museum in Flushing, Queens in 2023.
